Lingo Real – AI Language Lessons: Privacy Details
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This page adds details to our Privacy Policy for the Lingo Real – AI Language Lessons app for iPhone and iPad (version 3.0 and later). Where this page is more specific, it applies to the Lingo Real app.
1. Your account
You can learn as a guest or sign in with Apple, Google or email. Firebase Authentication (Google) stores your account ID and, depending on how you sign in, your email address and name.
2. Your learning data
- Stored in Google Cloud Firestore and linked to your account: your learning profile (the languages you speak and learn, goals and level), the daily lessons created for you (topics, phrases, dialogues and writing tasks), your progress and scores, streaks, rewards (Limestones, Hearts and PineLogs), and referral codes you redeem.
- Kept only on your device: your review cards, app preferences, and what widgets and Live Activities show.
- Writing you submit for feedback isn't stored; only your score is saved.
3. The AI tutor
- When Apple Intelligence supports your device and the languages you use, the AI tutor runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device model. What you type or say to it isn't sent to us.
- With a Premium subscription, the AI tutor also works on other devices and in other languages through our server (api.lingoreal.com). It runs open-weight AI models on Cloudflare Workers AI. Each request sends only what the task needs, for example your message and the conversation so far, a sentence to check, your writing or a lesson topic, and returns the answer. We don't store this content, and it isn't used to train AI models. Cloudflare processes it as our service provider.
- To confirm Premium, the app sends our server the purchase record signed by Apple (product, purchase and expiry dates, transaction IDs). Linked to your account ID, our server keeps your Premium expiry date, the subscription's transaction IDs (so one subscription can't be shared by too many accounts) and how many AI requests you made today (for fair-use limits). This information is erased automatically 30 days after it was last needed. For Premium status, that's 30 days after your subscription ends.
- Our server keeps technical logs (time, request type, response status and duration) for a few days for security and troubleshooting. They don't include your messages.
4. Speech, audio and photos
- Speaking practice uses Apple's speech recognition. It runs on your device whenever your device supports it; otherwise Apple processes the audio under Apple's privacy policy. We don't receive or store your recordings.
- Pronunciation scores are calculated on your device, and spoken audio comes from the voices built into iOS.
- Snap to Learn: photos you take or choose are analyzed on your device and aren't uploaded. If the cloud AI tutor builds the lesson, only the recognized words or topic are sent, as described in section 3.
5. Purchases
Apple handles purchases and subscriptions. We receive the purchase records Apple provides (product, dates and transaction IDs) to unlock Premium and add Limestones to your account. We never see your payment details.
6. Notifications
Study reminders are scheduled on your device. Lingo Real doesn't use push notification tokens.
7. Analytics, advertising and tracking
- Lingo Real has no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple gives us anonymous crash and usage statistics.
- To protect our services from abuse, the app uses Firebase App Check with Apple's DeviceCheck. It confirms that requests come from a genuine copy of the app without identifying you.
8. Deleting your data
- In the app, open Profile → Settings → Delete account. This deletes your account and the learning data linked to it from our database, and removes the app's data from that device. Data on our AI server is erased as described in section 3.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription, because Apple manages subscriptions. Cancel it in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- You can also email [email protected] to ask for a copy of your data or for its deletion.
